Cold Bore Shot
"Cold bore" shot is a relative term meaning the firing of a round from a "cold bore" or barrel that has not heated up due to a recent previous firing of a round or rounds.
Often, rifles will have their final sight settings dialed-in after more than one round has been fired. Since the heating of the barrel from multiple firings will change the point of impact (POI) of the bullet on the target, firing from a bore, or more appropriately "barrel", that is "cold" will result in a hit that does not have a POI that matches the shooter's point of aim (POA).
This can be overcome with practice, and knowing the difference in distance between where a cold bore shot will print on target and where a warm/hot barrel group will print, will help the shooter to be able to adjust his hold for a cold bore shot.
