Offhand

Offhand, also known as standing, is a shooting position where the shooter is standing upright and without the aid of a sling, holds his rifle on target be using both hands. It is the most difficult position to shoot from, but is, conversely, the quickest to assume.

The ability for the shooter to hold a rifle's sights on target while in the offhand position is affected by many variables, including, but not limited to; leg muscle support, stomach muscle support, arm muscle support, etc. Since it's the shooter's muscle groups ( the greatest majority of them compared to other positions ) which are the main contributors to a well placed shot while in the offhand position, it is the most difficult position to become proficient at, even for very capable and accomplished marksmen.
